Ich habe einen plötzlichen Appetit auf Spektakel entwickelt, sehne mich nach filmischen Erzählungen, in denen Wagnis, Geschicklichkeit und Strapaze Platz haben, ersehne den Anblick einer überlebensgroßen Landschaft als Bühne existenzieller Prüfungen, mit einer wüstenhaften Klarheit des Für und Wider.
Vielleicht geht diese Sehnsucht aus meinem gelebten Gegenteil hervor? In jedem Fall würde ich dieser Lust gerne nachgeben und bald einen „unverblümten“ Abenteuerfilm machen.
Wozu? Als Utopie eines Lebens, in dem nichts Ersatz ist und jeder Moment mit jeder Faser gelebt werden muss. Als Spielanordnung, um komplexe moralische Probleme sicht- und verhandelbar zu machen.
What would your ideal "adventure" look like?
AntwortenLöschenOne possible direction I'd be interested in would be THE THIEF OF BAGDAD (Raoul Walsh, 1924), DIE NIBELUNGEN (Fritz Lang, 1924) or PRINCESS MONONOKE (Hayao Miyazaki, 1997) – adventures vey much bigger than life. But I doubt I will ever be able to make one of these. The other direction I'd love to explore: more reality-based stories, let's say DELIVERANCE (John Boorman, 1972), WALKABOUT (Nicolas Roeg, 1971) or maybe LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (David Lean, 1962). There are some ideas for those in my drawer, we will see if I will get the chance to actually do one of those projects. How about you? What's your ideal adventure film project?

Actually, my passion project right now is a film titled CATHERINE GREENE which follows in the tradition of REAR WINDOW & BLOW-UP about an unlikely woman who believes she's uncovered a human trafficking plot. My interests in filmmaking exists more at the molecular level so the "adventure" would be found more in the expansiveness of the fiction. Think the aforementioned with the characterization of a Lodge Kerrigan or Ulrich Köhler film. Hoping to make it sooner than later (I will be writing my first feature soon after having spent a decade making shorts). Hope to see yours sooner! :)
